Detached house
Located in the region of La Selva, perched above street level on a concrete base surrounded by vegetation, this architecture takes shape. A white hand-molded brick volume with three perimeter courtyards defines the structure while organizing the entire interior space.
An ascending staircase nestled within lush vegetation leads to a courtyard that provides access to the house’s interior. The entry courtyard, a covered space clad in rough-textured white brick, warmly welcomes visitors.
The interior contrasts sharply with the rugged exterior. It is an open-plan space where the courtyards not only delineate the layout but also flood the interiors with light and warmth. While the exterior showcases the roughness of brick, the interior is crafted with a single, smooth, and seamless material.
The lightness and austerity of the interior are disrupted only by large oak wood panels that slide seamlessly across the space, acting as magical walls that appear and disappear. These adaptable walls transform the layout entirely, turning an open and fluid space into a series of fragmented configurations with infinite possibilities.
This house explores ways to adapt the space to its occupants’ needs without compromising the comfort of modern living.
