Penthouse Eixample

Renovation of an apartment in the Eixample

“It’s not about walls, but about furniture that organizes the space. It’s not about doors, but about walls that appear and disappear. It’s not about blocking and covering, but about hinting and reflecting.”

An open and fluid space is created, articulated through furniture elements. These pieces define the functional layout and provide privacy where needed. The dynamic and fluid space transforms thanks to sliding panels hidden within the furniture.
These walls act as magical elements, appearing and disappearing, altering the spatiality of the architecture.

The materiality used is antonymous: matte and reflective. The non-glossy elements are rendered in white and black, whether it’s oak or dark-stained maple wood; the vertical surfaces are pure white.
Reflective elements are reserved for metals and the ceiling. Stainless steel and aluminum shape the doors and parts of the furniture. This subtle interplay of reflections distorts the perception of the space.

Color is reserved for singular features: penicillin green and terracotta red for structural elements. Raw tones are used for all exterior surfaces, creating a dichotomous effect between the exterior and interior.
